Michael C. Owens

Michael Owens founded Matrix Mandala Garden in 2006 to promote the practice and awareness of meditation. He received his BA in Religious Studies from Hunter College and an MA in Buddhist Studies from the University of Hawai'i. He continued his graduate studies as a doctoral candidate at Princeton University, where he researched medieval Chinese Buddhist-Taoist magic. From 2001 through 2005 he taught courses on Buddhism, Christianity and comparative religion as a professor at the City University of New York's Hunter College. He has written on and translated several Chinese Buddhist sutras, most recently the Vajra Prajnaparamita Sutra, also known as the Diamond Sutra.
